MGM Grand: Without us, there would be no “roar next door”! PDF Print E-mail
We are proud to contribute to the success of the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise (MPGE).  Without the dedicated frontline gaming employees and thousands of others, Foxwoods expansion would not be a reality today.

Before our union vote, management said “Give Us a Chance”.  Well, here’s their chance.  As the MPGE begins a new business chapter with the opening of MGM at Foxwoods, management has the chance to do the right thing for dealers, dual rates and thousands of dedicated employees who are considering applying for jobs at MGM at Foxwoods.

Management should agree to the following:

Hiring Preference

Current employees should have preference to fill all positions before hiring new people.  This includes current full-time, part-time and casual dealers who choose to transfer to available full-time positions.  In addition, current part-time and casual dealers should also have the opportunity to work at both casinos to be able to have enough hours per week to attain regular part-time or full-time status.

Seniority

There will be no loss of seniority for current employees.  Employees who transfer to MGM at Foxwoods must maintain their current seniority.  All seniority-related issues, including pay, shift preference, work schedules, vacation, and sick and personal time accrual must be preserved.  If employees decide to transfer back into Foxwoods, seniority must also be preserved.

Tokes

We decide on tokes.  Tokes belong to the dealers and not management.  An overwhelming number of us want our tokes at Foxwoods and MGM at Foxwoods to be pooled.  All tokes will be pooled unless we vote to change that through a democratic process established by the Toke Committee.

Pay

Base pay and pay increases must be the same and apply at both Foxwoods and at MGM at Foxwoods for all dealer classifications and dual rates.

Job Security

Current employees who transfer into MGM at Foxwoods should not be subject to any probationary

period.  Our service and dedication to the company has already been established.

Transfer Rights

Employees should have the right to transfer back to Foxwoods and must not be subject to any probationary period and continue to maintain their full seniority, pay and benefits.

Job Classification Ranking

Employees who bid within their departments into MGM at Foxwoods doing the same jobs should maintain their job classification ranking.

Benefits

All benefits including health insurance, 401(k) and fringe benefits must be maintained at the same levels.  Any increases in benefits shall apply to both Foxwoods and MGM at Foxwoods.

No Discrimination

Foxwoods will not discriminate against employees on the basis of race, age, union activity, physical attributes or disabilities.
