Mary Johnson
Day Shift, Dealer 15 Years
My name is Mary Johnson and I am truly honored to be nominated on the slate to run as a representative of our bargaining committee. Since we started our campaign to form our union, 18 months ago, the issues we have been fighting for remain the same. It is because of the patience, strength, and solidarity of my co-workers that we have gotten to this point and I thank all of you for never giving up your belief in our union. If elected, you have my solemn promise that I will continue to fight for you at the bargaining table. We deserve a fair and equitable contract that will protect ourselves and our families.
I would like to say a few words about the other 7 nominees selected for our slate. We have worked very closely with each other during this campaign and I can attest to their dedication and determination through out this campaign. They are caring and knowledgeable individuals who have earned the respect of our co-workers. Please consider them when you vote.
This is our union. Be proud of what you have accomplished. Come out to vote!!
Jacqueline Little
Poker Grave Shift, Dealer 16 Years
My name is Jacqui Little and I would like your vote to be a member of your Bargaining Committee.
I’ve been a Poker Dealer at Foxwoods for 16 years. Most of the changes I’ve seen during that time have not been good ones. Sadly, we are the first on the Foxwoods “Team” to see our benefits cut and rights as workers cast aside. The casino believes the answer is to “be contagious”. I believe the answer is a contract.
I have been a passionate and committed member of the Organizing Committee since the beginning. I have spoken out about our concerns and have been unfairly disciplined for doing so. That has not and will not stop me from working hard to see that our contributions are recognized with better pay, more respect and the fairness we deserve.
I’ve gotten to know you while listening to your concerns and to your feelings about the daunting task of making our dream of a Union a reality. It hasn’t been quick and it hasn’t been easy, but together we’ve done what many, many people said couldn’t be done. We have a certified Union. The next step is a contract.
I am asking for your vote so that I can be your voice in the negotiations with the casino for that contract. I will bring the same integrity, determination and commitment that you have seen from me so far Thank you for your vote and for your determination to improve our workplace.
Steve Peloso
Poker Grave Shift, Dealer 16 Years
Hello, my name is Steve Peloso and I have been a dealer at Foxwoods for 17 years. Looking back, I cannot say I am pleased with the direction this company has taken with regard to its employees. Too often the words and slogans of the Casino do not match its deeds. The Casino has had the only voice in making company policy. Bending or breaking policy as it saw fit. I served on the Employee Group Council and saw firsthand how this Casino chooses to ignore the legitimate concerns of the employees. I would like the chance to change this. So I am asking for your support in the upcoming bargaining committee vote.
Instead of actually improving the workplace, the Casino has used slogans to try to make us believe what a great place it is to work. “The Fox Rocks”, “People and Product over Profit”, “The Workplace of Choice”. We need better “Choices” to make the “Fox Rock”.
Think of the benefit cuts and lack of real raises. How many benefits have disappeared with the issuing of a memo? They are going to change the health provider again. Do you think it's to improve coverage? Many words have come from the 4th floor over the years. Too many were used against us. It's time to try to change that. It's time for us to use a binding contract to get the Casino to live up to its word.
Please vote for the organizing committee slate.
Thank You,
Steve Peloso
Wei Ching "Sandy" Siu
Swing Shift, Dealer 6 Years
My name is Wei Ching “Sandy” Siu, I have been a dealer at Foxwoods for 5 years, full time since August this year. I have been on the organizing committee since April of 2007 and participated in lobbying for the smoking ban this past legislative session.
As an organizing committee member, I have talked with many of our co-workers and have heard their concerns. Health benefits, job security, wages, and inconsistent promotions from part time to full time are all important issues for me. I want to make sure all dealers, including the Asian dealers, at Foxwoods are represented fairly in the bargaining of our union contract.
A lot of important changes are needed to make Foxwoods a great place to work. Benefits need to improve, wages need to be raised to a living wage, and we need to be protected by a contract to ensure we are treated fairly. With the recent layoffs, fighting for our job security is more important than ever. We need to be protected. I will fight for all of these things as a member of the bargaining team.
Please vote for the slate endorsed by the Organizing Committee.
Greeting UAW brothers and sisters. Many of you know me, but for those of you who don’t, my name is George Taylor, I have been a dealer on swing shift for over 14 years. I have served on the toke committee for over 10 of years and was recently elected chairperson this past September.
That brings me to where we are today. You should all be very proud of all that we have accomplished in the past 20 months. Today we are on the brink of a potentially monumental shift in the labor movement across the country. As we prepare to engage in negotiations, the eyes and ears of the labor movement will be looking to Foxwoods to see what happens.
As a member of this bargaining committee, I will bring my years of experience and my in-depth knowledge of the toke history as well as a deep desire to see that we achieve the best contract possible. As we have said from the beginning, WE have made Foxwoods what it is today, and now we deserve the respect and recognition we have so long gone without.
It has been a privilege to serve the dealers for many years and I look forward to continuing that service and as always I thank you for your support and will do what is necessary to achieve our goals.
Billy Shea
Day Shift, Dual Rate 16 Years
Hi my name is Billy Shea. I clearly remember the night I placed a comment on " The Mad At Foxwood's " website. It actually took me a few nights before I made the actual posting. I knew by doing so, that I was putting myself into a position where my life would completely change. Not only would it change for me personally but I also knew that by doing so that I was putting my job on the line.
All of this transpired because I cared about Foxwoods and my fellow employees. Throughout this complete process I have respected all opinions and beliefs. I can assure and promise all if elected my honesty and caring attitude will continue for all employees.
If you vote to allow me to represent you on the bargaining committee, I assure you I will place all my energies and efforts into getting what all employees deserve-- respect, dignity and a fair and honest wage and medical benefit.
I thank you and lets return Foxwood's to " The True Wonder Of It All "
Billy
Denise Gladue
Grave Shift, Dual Rate 14 Years
My name is Denise Gladue, I’m a dual-rate dealer on grave shift. I have worked at Foxwoods for fourteen years. I have been on the organizing committee since April of 2007. I’m on the smoking ban sub committee and have gone to Hartford to lobby for the smoking ban in Connecticut casinos. Recently I went to Detroit to tell other UAW members about our organizing efforts and our election victory.
Every category on the survey that was sent to your homes is important to me. If I’m elected to the negotiating committee I will do my best to see we get a contract that is fair. We deserve respect and to be compensated for our hard work.
